I found this meme while looking at photos of Dorian Gray. I thought it was just too funny to not include.

What I really wanted to talk about was the pronunciation of “b-ae-sel” and “Ba-z-il”. In the book, the character’s name is Basil “ba-z-il”. I wanted to connect this to my real life with someone I love dearly with the same name, and it is my little crested gecko named Basil. I haven’t even had him for a year but I love him so much. While Basil is a creative mind my Basil had exactly 0 thoughts in his head. In the books Basil is mild-mannered and kind… my Basil eats crickets… they are basically the same.
